There are two multi-choice question quizzes in IJP, run during normal lab slots.
The deadlines for PeerWise are timed to ensure that there's plenty of student-generated revision material to help you revise, but do also make sure that you review the appropriate chapters of Objects First with Java — in particular, you should understand everything in the “Concept summary” at the end of each chapter covered by the quiz.
Each quiz will be worth 10% of your total mark for the course (so 20% for both quizzes).
The quizzes will be run online from the IJP page in WebCT (new window on most browsers). They will each comprise 20 (twenty) questions and last for 50 minutes, starting ten minutes after the beginning of the lab (that is, 10:10, 14:10, 16:20 or 11:20, according to your lab group).
Some questions will allow multiple (or zero) answers to be selected; they will be highlighted, but please keep an eye out for them.
During each quiz, you will be expected to maintain exam conditions in the lab (particularly silence) and to have only one browser window open — the one containing the quiz.
You should bring your student ID card to the quiz, and leave it on your desk beside you as you work.
It is vital that you verify that you can use WebCT before coming to the quiz, so please visit the IJP page in WebCT (new window on most browsers) now and take the “Test Quiz”. This just contains two very easy questions (or perhaps not so easy!?), and is not worth any marks: it just reassures us and you that WebCT is working ok.
You should already have your login details for WebCT, and can ask the ITO if you haven't.
If you can't get this to work, then please let us know!
We expect you to come to your registered IJP lab session (see lab groups), as the quiz will be released to each lab group at the time of that group's lab. So please check that you will be able to make it to AT5.08 at the relevant time.
Contact us if you think you're in the wrong group, or need to switch to another slot! Several students registered in several groups, and others aren't registered at all!
To save you time in the quiz itself, here are the instructions which appear at the start of the quiz:
This assessment is worth 10% of your course mark.
You have 50 minutes to complete the test.
