General SKIlls development

Throughout, the course will encourage a critical assessment of the ideas and models presented. Students will be introduced to methods for the collection and interpretation of data and for the interpretation of primary literature. The use of electronic mail and the Internet will foster general IT skills. At the same time, discussion of the limits of computers will help towards a general understanding of the kinds of roles IT systems will play in business and leisure. For students proceeding to degrees in the area of Informatics, the course will also provide a ``road map'' of topics covered in neighbouring disciplines.
