Computational Methods for Global Change Research 2008-2009
CMGCR provides an introduction to some of the computational methods
used in global change research, with a focus on methods used in
computational models. Global change research involves many
disciplines - we focus on economics, ecosystems, and climate.
Students are given a brief introduction to the motivating issues of the
day - potentially catastrophic climate change, heavy overexploitation
of ecosystems, and potential resource constraints on economic activity
(e.g., CO2 emissions). The bulk of the course looks at
computational modeling methods used to investigate these issues.
The course is intended for postgraduate students preparing for a career
in globsal change-related research, public policy, or industry, where
knowledge of these modeling techniques is of value.
