About the Informatics Search Service

The Informatics search service is built using a number of freely available tools.

Crawling

The service uses Harvest-NG to crawl the informatics web sites and summarise the information contained within them. Harvest-NG is freely available under both the GPL and Artistic licenses

Indexing

We use IndexData's Zebra server to index the data. This server provides a Z39.50 interface to the world. Zebra is freely available for non-profit use.
