The School of Informatics has been allocated floors 2, 3 and 5 of Appleton Tower for immediate occupancy, with the expectation that floor 4 will be freed up for the School at Easter. This floor would then be the first redesigned and redecorated for the School's needs and will be available for occupancy approximately three months later (July 2003). In January, we will plan a progressive programme of remodelling, as necessary, and redecoration for floors 4, 2, 3 and 5, which will then be worked on, in succession, with staff and students being decanted to different floors, as required, whilst work is being carried out. This programme should be completed by the start of the 2003-2004 academic year, hopefully.
Therefore, for the period to approximately June 2003, staff and students will have to be accommodated within the available space on floors 2, 3 and 5. Some minor refurbishment is currently being carried out on floor 2 and immediately thereafter on floor 5 to make the areas suitable for occupancy by research groups (floor 2) and to improve facilities for MSc students and to create an Informatics Teaching Office on floor 5.
The immediate floor 2 refurbishment is estimated to be completed by early January with the floor 5 work carried out by the end of that month.
The following table provides details of the planned occupancy of Appleton Tower with effect from early January 2003 for the period to July 2003. Please note that this table is not yet complete and may be subject to minor amendment. As things become clearer and information is gathered (e.g. revised room allocations, telephone numbers etc.) the vacant fields will be populated and the table will be updated. Floor plans will also be provided.
