    1. Unification of Division-wide UIDs

It was noted that a suggestion had been made to produce a web page describing the policy and/or procedure for creating Division-wide accounts. A first draft has been completed.

It had previously been suggested that the script written by Rainer Thonnes (and currently used to generate a significant proportion of Division accounts) should be examined to see if its scope can be extended. This is still ongoing.

    2. Assignment of Division-wide usernames

Further investigation is required to establish the cause of the load on the Division DB and consequent slow response time. This is still ongoing.

  4. Any relevant Responsible Person reports

Neil Brown reported that the web upgrade had been completed satisfactorily.

  5. Presentation by Tim Colles

This was part two of the Divisional database exposition.

  6. Tabling of CEG Minutes

    No items

  7. Presentation by Ken Dawson

Ken presnted some notes and clarifaction on the management of computing staff and division-wide responsibilities.

  8. AOB

Paul Anderson raised the question of usernames, and there was a suggestion that there should be some investigation of the EUCS scheme (SMS) as a model for the Division to generate usernames for all students.

  9. Date Of Next Meeting

Following on from above, it was agreed that the next meeting should be held in the Central area, on Wednesday, 16th May.
