As part of the IRDS you are also expected to do a 2-4 page outline literature review. For this you should take 2-3 seed papers: key papers in the subject areas, and discuss those at some length, while also introducing the area with 5-10 papers that cover the broad area of the project, and filling out the review with discussions referencing 5-10 papers that fill out, extend, provide additional details or alternative approaches to the seed papers.
Although targeted at the MSc student IRR course, the IRR course and resources can be very helpful.
Instructions for the literature review are included alongside the project.
