TUTORIAL 6: for Semester 2 Week 7

How to create an advertisement slogan?

In this week's tutorial your task is:

1. To create an advertisement slogan for any product of your choice:

- First choose your product.
- Then decide on the basis of your product who your main costumer group is, e.g. women, children, adults, pet-owners, etc...
- After you determined your costumer group, you should decide if your advertisement will be presented in text (newspaper, posters), in audio (radio) or audio-visual (TV), or maybe you want to present your slogan in all 3 channels. How do you translate your advertisement message to these different channels? Explain why there are differences between text, audio and audio-visual representation of language.
- What else is important for your slogan? e.g. memorable, length, catchy, etc..
- Create your advertisement slogan considering above information.

2. Additionally you are asked to imagine you would participate in the EUSA presidential elections, come up with the slogan that would win you the elections:

- This time you will have to present an idea that will win you the elections.
- In this case you know your costumer group, students, and product, yourself, already.
- How will you present your message, slogan or catch-phrase that will make the students vote for you? Will it be in written text or spoken language, or both? What are the differences in formulating your slogan depending on which channel you choose? Or aren't there any differences in this case when you present your slogan written or spoken?
- What is the difference between this kind of propaganda and the product advertisement from your first task.

You will be working together in small groups to come up with slogans, and then share this with the rest of the tutorial group.

Try and think about this before the tutorial, and bring your ideas along....
