The University Computing Service provides an email account for each student in the university, including all Informatics students. This document tells you how to access that email service, the Student Mail Service (SMS).
In order to read your SMS email, you will need to use your EASE password
If you have lost or forgotten this password, any of the supervisors in the EUCS Public laboratories will be able to help you. Informatics computing staff cannot reset these passwords.
Please note - this password is not the same as your login password.
Don't be tempted to make your login and SMS passwords the same - this will make your accounts more vulnerable to hackers. Don't give out any of your password to anyone else.
The recommended way to do this is to use the Thunderbird or pine program
The documents:
Users who want to use an IMAP client other than Thunderbird or pine should read the EUCS document Using Unsupported Clients
EUCS Computing Laboratories allow you access your mail from labs other than Informatics provided ones.
The University also provides web access to the SMS service.
Details about Webmail (IMP) interface are available on the EUCS Email Pages.
All SMS accounts can be searched for from within the University.
See the general search page. to find a student by name.
Staff can browse for students by class and module using the ITO database pages
