Information for current:

Beowulf overview

The departmental beowulf currently consist of a 24 node cluster made up of Dell 1425s networked with 1Gb ethernet.

The software and hardware configuration is identical between nodes and should be largely the same as standard DICE workstations, some software that is unlikely to be used has been removed for space issues (mozilla and openoffice for example) and there may be some additional software licensed only to the beowulf.

The 24 node cluster(hermes)

The 24 node cluster consists of 24 Dell poweredge 1425s connected via gigabit ethernet. All of the nodes have hostnames of the form bw1425nXX with XX running from 01 to 24
