Why can I not login to Authportal?
There may be a genuine problem with your login details. Quite often certain characters such as 0 (Zero) and O (uppercase o) or 1 (One) and l (lowercase L) can cause confusion. If Authportal will not let you login then you should visit one of the Support Offices for assistance.
What does the message "Unable to map principal to account at /var/www/html/authportal/login/index.cgi line 377" mean?
There is an intermittent problem with Authportal at the moment that causes login requests to sometimes fail. If you experience this and see this message you should fill in a Support Request describing what you did and when. You can continue to attempt to login to Authportal in the meantime. If the problem persists reply to the automated mail you will get upon submitting a suport request noting when you attempted to login.
How long is the Client User Certificate valid for?
Client User Certificates issued by the Authportal are valid for one day. You will need to login to Authportal again once your Client User Certificate has expired.
Why do I need to install the University of Edinburgh Root Certificate?
You don't technically have to install it but doing so means that University of Edinburgh secure web sites will no longer ask you to verify their Server Certificates. Basically, installing the University of Edinburgh Root Certificate means that you are telling your web browser that you trust the University of Edinburgh web sites to be who they say they are.
