The University has a central server for web discussion forums.All staff and students can create and run these, although student-run ones require a staff sponsor.
The School of Informatics runs several forums on this service related to teaching:
Informatics Teaching — Top-level overview.
Informatics Courses — A forum for each individual taught course.
Warning: Owing to a fault in the University authorization pipeline, the forum server presents some students with the wrong login page and suggests they should register for a new account. Don't do this, it doesn't work! If you cannot log in with your EASE id and password (this is the one used for MyEd) then contact Information Services to have your account enabled for discussion forums. You can do this through the online self-service portal or by emailing IS.Helpline@ed.ac.uk.
