DTC Local Events
The formal components of the first year programme are supplemented with local journal club, tutorial and seminar events.
Every week there are journal club meetings where research in one of the areas studied within the DTC is discussed. Students in years are expected to attend at least one of these weekly meetings. DTC students and academics can propose new journal clubs.
Please contact us if you'd like to make a suggestion. A small budget for snacks and drinks at the journal club meetings is available.
Details can be found on the Events page of the DTC website and are announced via email.
The Institutes within the School of Informatics, as well as related departments, hold frequent events and seminars of interest to DTC students and you are encouraged to attend these. The following information is intended to give you an overview of some of the events that might be of interest to you, and you are advised to use the appropriate web pages for up to date information as times and dates may vary. Most of these seminars and events have mailing lists for which you can request membership. The seminars should give you valuable opportunities to interact with outside visitors, even if they are not exactly in your field, which will help you in formulating your own ideas.
All institutes within the School of Informatics hold seminar programmes. For information, please look at the respective institute web sites, accessible through http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk/research
The Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (ANC), together with the DTC, holds a fortnightly seminar series on Tuesdays at 11:00. Talks are given by invited speakers from across the world. Further information is available on the ANC Events page.
The University of Edinburgh Neuroscience Seminar Series (UoENSS) is held most weeks on Fridays at 12:30 with distinguished external speakers presenting seminars on current research in neuroscience.
