Arrival Information for PGR Students
Registration and Matriculation
On arrival your first priority should be to register formally with the University. Full information is available on the following pages which also provide information on how to pay your fees, how to get a student card and what to do if you are starting at a time other than the start of a new academic year:
After registering with the University you must register with the School of Informatics to allow us to confirm your attendance and provide you with a introduction to your new place of work. Please visit the Graduate School office to register with the School. You should note it is not possible to register with the School before the attendance date shown in your offer of admission. Once your formal registration has been completed, the Graduate School will direct you to your Institute admin office team, as well as providing you with:
- a DICE computer username and password if you do not already have one;
- a key for the room you will be studying in;
- details about your first scholarship installment [if payment is arranged via the School - you should ensure you bring your bank details to this visit].
This University guidance page is intended to help new students through the early stages of life in Edinburgh, including useful advice on money, health, events etc.
The University's Accommodation Services team provides housing and catering services to over 6,500 students in University owned accommodation, and may be able to help with finding and renting privately-owned accommodation.
The International Office provides help and guidance for all new and continuing students who come to Edinburgh from outside the UK. A pre-arrival guide is available on-line which contains lots of useful information, advice, and guidance on a range of topics, including assistance with opening a UK bank account.
