Information for staff and students working alone.

If you have occassion to work outside normal office hours then you should remember the following points.
  1. Ensure that you are familiar with the instructions on the Fire Action Notices and follow them in the event of the alarm sounding.
  2. Ensure that you are familiar with the sound of the Fire Alarm.
  3. Ensure that you are aware of the location of fire exits around the building you are working in.
  4. In the event of a fire or any other emergency, ensure that Security is notified immediately by calling 2222 from extensions on the 650/651 exchange (for all other telephones, dial 0131 651 3999).
  5. When exiting the building, stand clear of the main entrance and assist the Security/Fire Brigade by giving them information relating to the incident.
  6. Under no circumstances should you re-enter the building until you are informed it is safe to do so.
  7. Security (Tel. 502257) should be informed of your arrival and departure
  8. Let someone (a friend or family) know where you are, and when you are expected to return
