Future Academy/Studiolab

Future Academy/Studiolab was a joint initiative of Edinburgh College of Art (eca) and the University of Edinburgh (UoE), and ran for two years: 2005/6 and 2006/7.

Future Academy/Studiolab was first and foremost an interdisciplinary experiment and therefore was structured around a programme intended to help identify highpoints and problem areas in this collaboration between art, architecture, and science.

A feature of broad interest were the Conversations, roughly two per semester, where artists and informaticians addressed a series of overlapping issues, from their different perspectives. The Conversations were open to all, and a list of the events is visible at the link below. Other links give more information on: the goals and components of the Future Academy/Studiolab collaborative programme; and the Informatics InSpace plan, for exploring the cultural significance of Informatics

It's also worth noting that Informatics is hosting a Research Artist in Residence.
