Software Engineering Programme

The Software Engineering Programme in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh brings together researchers in Informatics from a wide variety of backgrounds whose work contributes to solving software engineering problems; it also has strong links with relevant departments outside Informatics.

Our areas of interest include: safety critical systems; the effects of organisational factors on software engineering; software architecture; cognitive aspects of software engineering; formal specification and development; systems reengineering; testing and verification; system modelling.

The Programme is a deliberately featherweight organisation, with no formal concept of membership. The School's heavier research groups, the Institutes, almost all have members involved in the Software Engineering Programme.
