POSTGRADUATE student Induction Timetable for 2010

Information about the central University student induction timetable is available on the University's main website, please also be aware that there are an additional series of events intended for international students.

Your first task is to register formally with the University, full information is available on the Registry website.  Please be aware that registration takes place ahead of your arrival in Edinburgh, if you have not already received your matriculation card then you can register in person at Adam House at the following times:

• Mon 13 Sept 2010 - 12.30-4.30pm
• Wed 15 Sept 2010 - 9.15-12.30pm
• Fri 17 Sept 2010 - 12.30-4.30pm      

Secondly, you also need to register with the School of Informatics (allowing us to confirm your attendance and provide you with your DICE username and password).  In order to help us provide you with the correct information please following the following registration guidelines:

• Research students [PhD, DTC, MSc by Research] should register with the Graduate School during induction week (Informatics Forum, Room 2.33)
• Taught students [MSc and EuMI] should register with the Teaching Organisation during induction week (Appleton Tower, Room 4.02)

14.00 - 15.00	Appleton Tower, Level 5, West Lab	TEAM Testing Tony Lynch - IALS [English for Academic Purposes] This optional event will help diagnose whether you may benefit from ELTT English courses or materials, which are offered free of charge to non-native speakers on postgraduate programmes at Edinburgh. Students with an English test score below 7.0 IELTS, or equivalent must take TEAM to see whether they qualify for ELTT support, see: http://www.ials.ed.ac.uk/EL/English-Academic/Testing(TEAM).html

16.00 onwards	Informatics Forum, Room 4.40	Language at Edinburgh Reception Language at Edinburgh is an informal grouping of researchers across the Schools of Informatics and Philosophy, Psychology and Language Science who are involved in different aspects of language research. Language at Edinburgh encourages interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration throughout the year.
