Andrew
Angus was awarded the Sir William Siemens Medal and a cheque for 300
pounds at an awards ceremony on 22nd November 2007, at
the new Siemens UK headquarters in Frimley, Surrey. It was presented
by Tom White, Chief Executive, Siemens plc, pictured with Andrew on the right.Andrew is in the 5th year of the MEng Electronics and Computer Science programme and was selected for the award by the School of Engineering and Electronics on the basis of his outstanding performance in 4th year.
The history of this award is that, to commemorate the achievements of William Siemens, London University's Imperial College established a Sir William Siemens Medal in 1883 for their top final year electrical engineering student. To carry on this tradition, and encourage the study of science and technology among young people today, Siemens now awards new Sir William Siemens Medals to students at a small number of schools, colleges and universities around the UK in recognition of their academic excellence. Andrew was one of 18 medal winners this year.
