What is Computer Science?Computer Science is concerned with the understanding, design, implementation and use of computing systems ranging in complexity from the components of a single processor to computer networks as vast as the World Wide Web. It encompasses both hardware and software, and embodies a wide variety of practical techniques supported by a strong foundation of theoretical understanding. with other subjects. There is an enormous range of choice for specialisation, and for including "outside" subjects from across the University. What are emotions from a CS perspective?CS as such does not have anything specific to say about emotions. However, in software engineering, and more generally the design of complex control systems (e.g. chemical plant control systems) which is one kind of applied CS. In particular, in complex control systems, various kinds of goal-manipulating mechanisms, alarm systems and conflict resolution mechanisms are required. Some engineers have been taking account of thisrequirement for many years. |
