Description:  

Information Theory is a new course in Autumn 2010. The course text will be "Information Theory, Inference and Learning Algorithms", David MacKay, CUP, 2003.

The TA will be responsible for:

- helping to develop questions for two assignment
- helping to develop materials for tutorials
- marking of the assignments

This post is paid at grade UE06, currently upwards of £12.50/hr.


Skills:

Ideally the TA would be familiar with the entropy measures and the noisy-channel and source coding theorems. However, any well motivated person with the right mathematical skills will be considered. A good track record in a machine learning course such as LfD, PMR or DME would be looked upon favourably.

Total Hours: Approx 50 (depending upon student numbers)
