Course: Information Theory
Type: Teaching Assistant
Time in Year: Course runs in Semester 1.
Number of Posts: 1 TA
Information Theory is a new course in Autumn 2010. The course text will
be "Information Theory, Inference and Learning Algorithms", David
MacKay, CUP, 2003.
The TA will be responsible for:
- helping to develop questions for two assignment
- helping to develop materials for tutorials
- marking of the assignments
This post is paid at grade UE06, currently upwards of £12.50/hr.
Ideally the TA would be familiar with the entropy measures and the
noisy-channel and source coding theorems. However, any well motivated
person with the right mathematical skills will be considered. A good
track record in a machine learning course such as LfD, PMR or DME would
be looked upon favourably.
