Role: School Liaison

Time in Year: Preparation in semesters 1 and 2; leading and assisting with workshops at various times - mostly expected to be in April - July 2009.

Description: Assistant to the Schools Liaison officer, Morna Findlay, whose role is to encourage applications to the School of Informatics from suitable UK candidates, who might not normally think of studying Informatics. See: outreach page and Connect 4 pages for more information.
School Liaison work involves visiting schools and science festivals and welcoming groups of school pupils to visit us here in Edinburgh. Some school groups may have studied computing at school and some not. The age of children we work with has been mainly p7 (11) to s5 (16).
The job could also be split, although preference
will be given to applicants who can commit to work in May, June and July 2009.
This post is paid at grade UE06, currently upwards of £12.50/hr.
Total Hours: negotiable: upwards of 50 hours.
