Schools outreach activities
If you would like to engage in activites which
- help promote informatics (computer science, AI, software engineering, etc) as a discipline to school children,
- inspire more school chidren to come into higher education,
- promote the School of Informatics as a good place to study computer science

6-15 April 2006, Science Festival. Payment is £30 a day + additional payments for the training sessions;
- 31 May 2006, Workshop for Firrhill Highshool;
-
17-21 July 2006, Summer School for all schools in Edinburgh and the Lothians.
What the jobs entail
You will run a simple workshop or simply stand by a demo and
supervise/help school kids use it. You will get training in how
to run an invididual demo/workshop as well as science communication in
general.
For each job you will be paid at demonstrator rate unless a fixed rate is advertised in advance.
Sometimes, the jobs involve travelling to schools within Edinburgh and
the surrounding areas, with travel expenses baid for by the School.
