Fundamentals of AI

Time in Year:  First Term, weeks 1 to 9

Description:  The module has three parts, covering (1) basic logic and its relevance to knowledge representation in AI, (2) the nature of algorithms, data structures and making informal complexity arguments, (3) basic search techniques in AI.  A tutorial exercise will be set each week (with notes and answers for tutors) usually involving some concrete formal manipulation task (e.g. prove this theorem, say something about the complexity of this algorithm, simulate this search strategy).

Total Hours:  1 hour tutoring per week + 1 hour extra preparation per week (paid at Demonstrator rate) for 9 weeks.
