| UG Admissions PROGRESS |
LIVE since Dec 07 |
ITO are now using EUCLID for all UG admissions related admin, using data from the system to create individual applicant letters and manage our PAVD invitations. Note that the School's UG applications are centrally managed by the College Office, contact sciengra@ed.ac.uk. UG Admissions training material is available here. |
| PG Admissions PROGRESS |
LIVE since Oct 08 |
IGS are working with the PG Admissions system, regularly liaising with relevant academic staff to further discuss the most effective use of the system. EUCLID online training advice is available here. Please direct any internal PGR admissions (IGS) issues to Anna Hobbs. All Informatics PGT applications are now being centrally managed by College Office, contact sciengra@ed.ac.uk |
| Curriculum Management PROGRESS |
PARTLY LIVE since Apr 09 |
PCAM [Programme Creation & Management]: Informatics DPTs are now available via the DRPS. Futire DPT revisions should be highlighted to Ian Stark and Neil McGillivray. The School has full access to all Informatics DPTs, although changes will only presented online once weekly. CCAM [Course Creation & Management]: Following the April 09 decision to extend the reduce the scope of the project, the future of the EUCLID CCAM system is uncertain. This means that the School will continue to use a combination of the existing ITO database and WISARD to record all student registrations until the end of 2009/10. The School is looking at possible future contingencies, and awaits further news from EUCLID. ITO will continue to assist with the build of any new software, directly and via appropriate College level working groups. |
| Assessment PROGRESS |
TBC (for 2010/11) | The implemtation of this area has been further postponed. It had been intended that Informatics would enter Phase 1 of the Assessment roll-out, meaning that all course related administration would have moved to EUCLID from 2010/11. However, given the reduction in the project scope, it is not now clear what level of Assessment functionaloty will be provided. The School is well represented on College level working groups, and continues to contribute to discussions concerning any build and implementation of this important part of the project. |
| Timetabling PROGRESS |
TBC (for 2010/11) | Again, the future of this part of the project remains uncertain. Informatics hadn't contributed to previous discussions. It is important to note that EUCLID was not intended to provide Schools with a timetabling tool, but had intended to provide functionality that allowed us to compare existing course times and clashes. This area in intended as an enhacement of the existing TimeTab system linked to WISARD and will provide a EUCLID link to the EBIS database, helping make course lecture times and bookings more publicly accessible. |
| Interoperability PROGRESS [WIKI] |
ON-GOING | EUCLID have a stated Interoperability Approach. The School is aware of a number of processes that we believe EUCLID will provide some kind of equivalent functionality for, even if not identical, and for us to continue locally would be considered by the EUCLID board to be duplication. Regular news and progress will be reported through the Interoperability Wiki. |
| Student Administration | ON-GOING | This part of the project is involved with helping to redevelop existing practices in time for the introduction of the Assessment section at the start of 2009/10, although is now doubtful given the reduced project scope. IGS staff had been invovled in direct liaison with EUCLID to assist with the build of revised PGR Student Admin and Student Finance systems, please contact Anna Hobbs to discuss these IGS related issues. Much of the UG and PGT work in this area is being handled by Registry in the first instance. For more general (non PGR/IGS specific) information contact Neil McGillivray. |
| Performance Commitment | ON-GOING | During January 09 EUCLID provided College Office with information on intended performance targets, availability and performance of the system. Please contact Neil McGillivray if you'd like additional information, or if you consistently find that these commitments aren't being met. |
